What is MCI approved medical college?

MCI Screening Test

Indian students who are graduated from medical colleges outside India will have to take screening test conducted by the Medical Council of India. Only students who pass this screening test will be allowed to practice medicine in India.
Each year the MCI screening test will be conducted twice and students will get only three attempts to clear this exam to practice medicine in India.

Longer Course Duration

The course duration for graduating from Philippines medical college is 5.5 years. Also, the students will have to take one year pre-med course. It is mandatory for every student applying for MBBS in Philippines.
The longer course duration will lead you to spend more on your tuition, food and accommodation and other expenses. This is one of the disadvantage of studying MBBS in Philippines.

NMAT Exams

National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) is a standard entrance examination conducted in Philippines. Students who are interested in applying for medical colleges in Philippines should have to take NMAT exam.
 
Each year NMAT exams will be conducted on the month of September. The NMAT exam has two phases both conducted on the same day of the exam. Students who are applying for NMAT should have to complete both the phases to get pass this entrance exam. The results of MNAT will be announced within 15 working days from the date of exam

MCI Eligibility Certificate

Indian students before applying for studying MBBS in Philippines or in any foreign country should apply for MCI eligibility certificate from the government of India.
This has become mandatory because of many fake educational consultants promoting colleges that are worse in infrastructure and educational quality.
To avoid these the Indian Embassy has given certain guidelines for students who are applying MBBS in foreign countries. Also, Indian students are recommended to prefer medical colleges that are listed among the MCI list.

Pre Medical Course (BS Degree)

It is mandatory for every Indian students to enroll in these pre med courses before taking their admission in medical colleges.This is because, Philippines educational system is entirely different from our Indian educational pattern. So to overcome this, the Indian students must have to take BS degree.
 
The most common pre-medical degrees include biology, psychology, pharmacy, medical technology, biochemistry, microbiology, nursing, and physical therapy.

Lesser Clinical Rotations

Generally, the students studying MBBS in Philippines spend their first three years in class rooms facing the LCD monitors. They are not allowed to take their lab sessions. The students are given permission for clinical rotations only by the end of fourth year.
 
This makes students less exposure towards patients and the real life disease patterns. Also, except manila every state of Philippines is not much developed. So the chances of having practical knowledge is much lesser in most of the Philippines medical colleges.
